Video Game Reviews of Resident Evil: Code Veronica XCustomer Review: A Ghoul's Review Summary: 4 StarsThis game is simply marveloussss! The controls are worth DYING for hehehehe...
Poor, poor pretty little red-head Claire. Pulled into Umbrella Corp'ssss scheme in raccoon city. She starts out locked in a tiny little cell, free's herself and ventures up into the outside world above her. Her brother Chris Redfield is also featured as a playable character. Ah yes, the more, the merrier.
-Did I mention how wonderful these controls are?-
So slow we are to catch them would have been disappointing, but these control buttonssss make it all the easier for us. Watch as the player(s) in frustration try to move one of these dinner-delights from our range. So slowly shall they turn just to step away from us that we latch onto their legs if we're close enough! What's even better yet is that the more of us around, the bigger the banquet. Hehehe. A game that is fair to us undead!
-Let's not forget the weaponssss now.-
Some of those dastardly weapons like the guns can be a painful and quick end to zombies. But weapons such as knives are useless! These pitiful cheap weapons do little to no damage to our kin, and oh yes, it makes it easy to swarm those two lively creatures and take them down with ease. The player is better off running away from us than using a knife to fight!
*Oh, but how delightful the producers were in making ammo scarce. A wise player would conserve their ammo if all possible.
-Our environment is drank, dark, and eerie.-
There's a tension of any of us "popping" up for a visit at any time. Did I mention that we can interact with backgrounds? So don't feel ssssafe behind a glassssss window. Some areas are visibly hard to see in as well. A sudden noise, an absent dripping fountain, a terrified scream or a dead body being dragged into a gap are one of the several aspects in our 'home'.
-Ah yes, the enemies of the living.-
Of course there is the zombie virus. Plentiful, slow creatures they are that are powerful in groups. Let's not forget about a zombie's best friend!. Dogs are agile, aggressive creatures that will chase any living being down. But it gets even better. Earth-shaking worms that burrow themselves under the ground that enjoy the game of "hide-n-seek". Then there is the mutated monsters. These creatures have a tendency of long-range attacks and can quickly "pop-up" in gaps that the other undead simply wouldn't survive. So many terrorsss, so little time.
-Mysterious Plotssss?-
Now now, I'm not one to give spoilers out but wouldn't you, the player, want to know what's going on? This is the feeling that comes from this game. Given the option of digging deeper, or try to find the quickest way possible out of raccoon city. The choice is yours. But don't venture off to ssssoon...we'd rather enjoy the company...
"Greatest Hits" Need I say more? But why settle just for this when you can have the essentials edition? This game is for any human...or ghoul...

Customer Review: Old school RE, refined Summary: 4 StarsResident Evil: Code Veronica was originally released on the Sega Dreamcast. It had been in development alongside Resident Evil 3, but Code Veronica featured completely 3D backgrounds and an original story. The game follows Claire Redfield as she is imprisoned by Umbrella in an unknown island. Things quickly go to hell when there is a T-Virus outbreak.
Code Veronica X is the Playstation 2 port with added features and 10 minutes of extra cutscenes. The graphics are nice and solid and the music is pretty good at setting the mood. There are a lot of minor improvements to the series, such as the quick turn around, better item placement and story progression. The game is longer than previous Resident Evils, and I read somewhere that the game area is bigger than both Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2 combined.
This game is way better than Resident Evil 3. Returning characters Claire, Chris, and Wesker make this game feel familiar, and the added enemies and villains are good additions. One of the few weaknesses is the character Steve, a corny 2-Dimensional character that tries to be OTFABS. Well, at least he makes for a good story element later in the game. The atmosphere is darker, closer to the original game than the cartoony RE3. Still, I wish the graphics were moodier because they're not nearly as gritty as Silent Hill.
There are a couple of parts in Code Veronica that will test your skills and you might actually get stuck. I've seen people get stuck at the airplane section with the Tyrant, getting thoroughly owned with limited ammo. I played through the game with my bro last year and we did pretty good until we reached the final boss. We had no ammo so we had to knife the crap out of it. It was a losing battle, but with perserverance and several shots of tequila we weakened the trik and took her out. Haha I still remember that, what an accomplishment. That has to be one of my best gaming moments. Code Veronica is not classic like RE2 but it does have it's moments that still make it worth playing.
Customer Review: Survival Horror At It's Finest Summary: 5 StarsResident Evil: Code Veronica X...wow, where to start?
Code Veronica X is a port of the Dreamcast game that was later ported to the PS2 and the Gamecube, but since this is a review of the PS2 version, I'm just going to stick to the PS2 version.
Code Veronica X (or as it is know in Japan as Code Veronica Complete) takes place on Rockford Island, and you start out as Claire Redfield who is taken prisoner on the island after breaking into an Umbrella lab in Paris, but is later released after the island has a by-the-book Umbrella outbreak (like that of Raccoon City) with flesh eating zombies, and other monsters that make the zombies look like target practice.
Claire eventually runs into another survivor on the island named Steve Burnside (his father was a scientist on the island working for Umbrella), and both try to survive the monsters (new monsters make a debut; one of them called Bandersnatchers, and a new Tyrant), but as they make their was through the island, Claire and Steve discover the men with the plan; Alfred Ashford and Albert Wesker. It's unknown what attracted Wesker to Rockford Island, but he only makes a brief appearance in a cutscene with Claire (he comes back later in the game), but it turns out that Alfred and his sister Alexia work for Umbrella, but in Alfred severe mind, it turns out that Alexia isn't a real person (or so you think).
Eventually, Claire and Steve grab a plane and haul out of Rockford until Alfred re-directs the plane to an Umbrella base in the Antarctic tundra. Steve puts Alfred down, but what the duo don't know is that before Alfred dies, he releases Alexia from a deep crynogenetic sleep, and before Claire and Steve make it to a Australian base, their vehicle get's attacked by Alexia. This is where you get to control Chris.
When you control Chris, you basically have to re-do Rockford Island all over again, until you get to the Antarctic base where Claire is held. It's here that you witness Super Wesker and Alexia go at it, and you find out why Wesker was on the base in the first place.
Eventually, you fight Alexia (leaving you to fight Super Wesker another day) and you ride off into the day.
Resident Evil: Code Veronica X is HARD, when you read the booklet and it say's "conserve your ammo", it MEANS it. Ammo is very scarce on Rockford and in the Antarctic base, and yes, you do have to backtrack for puzzles and specific items, but it is still a great game to play.
Now for the ones that want the infinite Rocket Launcher, here is the details:
1. You MUST beat the game in under 4 hours (and cutscenes count, so if you want to get that rocket launcher, skip the cutscenes because every second counts)
2. You can only save ONE time and that is when you get the free save in the middle as Claire
3. You CANNOT use First-Aid spray
4. You must get a A or B ranking
It's a challenge, but I knew somebody that beat the game in under 4 hours and got the infinite rocket launcher. Impossible? No. Hard? Yes. Why did Capcom do this is beyond me, but I know in the Japanese Version of this game, they have a very easy mode where you get the rocket launcher immediately.
So why should you by this game? Well, if you are a RE fanatic (like myself) and own a PS2, get this game. Oh and make sure you get the strategy guide for this too. You're going to need it if this is your first time playing this game. Happy hunting.
Customer Review: Great game even if it's a little old. Summary: 5 StarsI have played every Resident Evil many times. Code Veronica is an overall great game.
Controls: While not perfect when turning, they still are quite capable when needed. No real issues here.
Characters: I think the characters are well placed, their voices are distinct and clear throughout gameplay.
Weapons: The weapons in the game are awesome, a good effort was done when the designers made this game.
Scenery& Lighting: The scenery was really nice, it was everything you would expect in survival horror. The lighting at times would make you wonder what was around the corner.
Playability: This game could easily be played again and again without becoming too boring.
The bad: On certain mission you may get a bit stuck, this is to be expected. Just how easy do you want it to be? If you get stuck search for help online, or just buy the Guide.
Overall: If you have a console that can play this game, get it if it's available. You more than likely were be pleased. If you do not like games with violence, I suggest you leave it alone.
