Customer Review: Opinions differ but I didn't like it
Summary: 2 Stars

I think the whole idea of The Warriors with vests and funny afros, bandanas, baseball uniforms... is just silly. Warlord looks like one of those guys who throws a towel over his head because he's gonna do yard work. Add all this to an imaginary world of gangsters who don't use guns and you have a very silly beatem up game. I have trouble distinguishing the difference between this and State of Emergency.

When in cooperative mode, the game play splits into two screens and everything gets a lot smaller. The camera gets confusing and the game looses any atmosphere it's supposed to have. In the end I just remember running around in circles fetching for items in these mini like city portions. I just didn't like it, if you want a violent atmospheric game, I recommend Manhunt also from Rockstar games. A game I personally thought was underrated.

Customer Review: Best bit of media violence I've ever played
Summary: 5 Stars

My dad recently got this game for me from BB and, after playing it non-stop all week, I can say it really is a fantastic piece of violent beat-em up action.

At first I wasn't really interested in the game, I mean, I'd never even heard of the film (even though a lot of school mates had talked about it), but my dad insisted I buy this. He even argued with the shop attendant when he wouldn't sell me it due to the mature rating.

Once I got home, my dad went off to send some more emails to his friend and I got on with playing this great game.

I really love how you can beat up anybody and mug anybody. It really gives you that freedom that I like from GTA (another present from my dad), but also has some great missions.

After about 6 hours my dad told me to turn off whatever I was doing as it was dinner time. He jokingly took away my knife and folk at the table just in case the game had made me violent, lol.

Anyway, my final word is that this is a fantastic game, and if you love beating people up then this is the one for you.

Dad's now getting me to pre-order Bully online. I can't wait for that one.

Customer Review: A Masterpiece
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been playin this game for about 58 hours total on the game and I am steal addicted to it its so fun theres tons of Gameplay here that will keep you playing for months.

Graphics: 9.5 These graphics are really good I love them actually there not like any other game. When you get in a major brawl and get hurt you will see cuts bruises and the like on you even in cutscenes. The graphics are a major nice point in this game.

Sound: 8.5: The sound is good in this game like when you hit someone you can actually here the pain in there voice its really funny at times.

Gamplay: 10 This is one of the greatest games on ps2. This game alone has brung back street-brawlers as we kno of it. It has many good things in this game. You can mug people, steal car radios, go in random stores and steal things or jus kill it all, beat up gangs and such. The missions dont always stay on one path as in go out and kill that gang. No this game does not do that it is like GTA and varies what you do. There is also things to do like Tagging other peoples graffiti. Though its not like GTA as you might thing NO this is much funner you have to stay on the line that looks like a W and you ahev to trace it with the analog stick. This gameplay also gets a major up because you control you gang with a set of commands as in "Watch My Back" "Lets Go" "Kill Them All" and such. The gameplay also dont end int here this game also has CO-OP that a player can come in anytime in the game jus by touching the "Start" button of controller 2 and there is "Rumble Mode" this is here you can brawl out with friends or the computer in about 15 differnat death matches. There is another thing called "Flashback Missions" This is where you find out how the Warriors got started and how other people joined. After you beat those series of missions theres another thing you can play called "Armies Of The Night" this is a side scroller game like old SNES games where you have to kill all the gangs in the city this thing is strangely addicting.

Fun Factor: 10: The best action game ever go out and buy it now.

Overal 10: I am not being biast on this game it is the best ever it will keep you playing for a good while. Dont rent it, buy it as soon as you can you wont be srry.

Customer Review: Another good Adult game from Rockstar.
Summary: 4 Stars

It's pleasing when mature games are released, as there is such a plethora of titles aimed at the middle teen/child market. The warriors was a fun and worthwhile game.

Set in 1979 it's a prequel to the events of the movie and in the last stages takes you through the events in the film. It feels very authentic and the areas are run-down and gritty just like in the movie. You play as various members of the Warriors gang who try to become major players in the inter-gang rivalry in New York.

Missions usually involve beating the hell out of lots of people. There are no guns to use, it's pure physical combat and it's much better because of it.

GRAPHICS

The graphics are decent and much like GTA, the characters all look decent and like their movie counterparts. It's very authentic in the way it portrays 1979 New York as well. Widescreen is included.

SOUND

The music is again decent and suits the atmosphere perfectly. There are many great tunes here. The voice acting is excellent and nobody sounds contrived. It also has very realistic language that is guaranteed to offend many people. e.g
"Lets rumble those ****** queers"!!
"Rip his ****** nuts off!"
"Money, Clothes, pretty hoes, Big Moe can't be beat"Lol
This is great and is the trademark realism of Rockstar.

GAMEPLAY

The gameplay focuses mainly on the fight mechanics which enable you to do various moves such as fist combos, martial arts as well as ground and pound, throws, pins and the ability to use almost any object to hit the opponent. It's very satisfying to smash someone in the face with a glass bottle, all the hits really connect and feel painful. You get slow-mo effects when you do hard hits like bottles/bricks on the head and slamming someone into a wall.

It also plays somewhat like the excellent Manhunt from Rockstar in that there are some stealth elements. Should take around 15-20 hours to complete and ther are a number of side missions you can do. You can also work out, take drugs (repairs health), mug people on the street, rip off stores etc

There are some flaws though. When in a crowded area such as a bar normal civilians can get in your way and they can act crazy - would you run into the middle of a 20 man gang fight? Also the controls are a little clunky and take some getting used to. The police are a little unrealistic as they are all wrestling experts and powerlifters. The camera isn't great and the auto targeting can often be frustrating.
8/10

OVERALL

A nice release from Rockstar that plays well and is memorable thanks to it's realism and very fun fights. The characters are great, the other teams varied and interesting (An all female team!) and it's a decent purchase.
