Video Game Reviews of Samurai Shodown AnthologyCustomer Review: Best 2D fighter ever Summary: 5 StarsI love this series. Samurai Shodown is not well known except for 1 and 2.
However, playing this game is sheer fun. My only complaint, and I do mean only complaint, is there is NO ONLINE PLAY!!!
If they ever made an online play, I would only imagine the replay would shoot up tremendously!

Customer Review: Awesome stuff, but where's the blood? Summary: 4 StarsThis game collection is long overdue for an old school neogeo fan such as myself, but why did they feel the need to censor out the blood and death scenes? Its not like this game is high profile or anything so I doubt its likely to cause controversy. Still a great collection for fighting aficionados.
5 stars for fun, but minus 1 star for missing V special and the blood, so 4 stars.
Customer Review: Takes me back Summary: 5 StarsWhen I heard about this anthology, I freaked out. I put way too many quarters in the machine for the first game. I never had the opportunity to play the others. This definately takes me back.
If you're looking for a great 2D fighting game, this is it. it's a lot harder than I remember, but than again, a lot of old school games are.
Customer Review: Old School Summary: 4 StarsA compilation with a ton of great classics. Looks good on a PS3 and Hi-Def setup.
Customer Review: Good Value but age shows. Summary: 4 StarsI've been waiting a long time for a Samurai Shodown/Spirits compilation, so I was pleasantly suprised and happy to finally get one.
Good news first: Very affordable: $20 for an anthology you enjoy is always win-win. You get all 6 games in the series, all reproduced at arcade quality, many of these, 6th in particular, you may never have played. All play very well and smoothly, though those which allow you speed up the gamplay shine a bit better. SS-VI has every character in the series open and avalable from the start, including all the bosses and some new characters & you can view all the endings of each character in case you get tired of losing to the boss for the 20th time. Save features for most of the games (score & pallete changes) and several of them allow you to to change the colors of the characters and save them in case that yellow on your favorite character has always felt out of place to you..
Bad news: I-V look very dated, especially on an HDTV. The manual mentions a 'focus' feature in the options to smooth the graphics but I could never find this option. With all six iterations, the first 4 are really just good for nostalgia-and really could use some remixed sound. SS-V is salvagable, but still pixely. VI is going to be the version you are likely to spend all your time playing. The difficulty for the games vary quite a bit, and like all 2D fighters, your likely to run into one character that either fights cheap or can just lay you in 2 attacks-like the final bosses in 6. Switching between games is a bit of a hassle, only 6 tells you how to go about getting to the main menu.
All in all it's worth it, and for hardcore players, plays perfect with a gamepad or stick. Graphics and sound are dated but does have 16:9 support. If you have an analog set the graphics shouldnt be so bad, and the bigger your HDTV you get the opposite.
